Cannot connect through forwarded port

Hi,

I have a CR6 connected to a LAN in a field station. Under normal operation, it communicates with a server running Loggernet Linux. This has been tested and works fine.

As a backup, I need to be able to connect to the CR6 from a server (Loggernet Linux) from our university. But with the relevant port forwarded (6786 in my case), I cannot connect to it. Not even forwarding port 80 on the CR6 gives me a connection. 

Since all other devices on the LAN are accessible through forwarded ports (even some unusual ports), the problem must lie with the CR6. What could be preventing the connection here?

According to this thread, the gateway address on the logger should be set to the LAN address of the router. Is this the IPGateway setting?

If the CR6 on your network is configured with a static IP address, then yes, you will need to configure the IP Gateway setting to your router, typically called the 'default gateway'.  Otherwise, generally, this setting is supplied by your DHCP server on the network.  You should also configure DNS Server 1 at minimum as well.
